Halbach array neodymium magnet ODM design

 

Compared with traditional motors, Halbach motors have the following advantages.

 

1. Power density

 

Compared with traditional permanent magnet motor architecture, the superposition of parallel and radial magnetic fields after Halbach magnetic ring decomposition greatly increases the magnetic field intensity on the other side, effectively reducing the volume of the motor and improving the power density of the motor.

 

2 fixed rotor no longer need chute

 

Due to the inevitable harmonics in the air gap magnetic field in traditional permanent magnet motors, chute is usually used to reduce the influence in the fixed rotor architecture. In Halbach motor, due to the large sine distribution of air gap magnetic field and low harmonic content, there is no chute in the fixed rotor.

 

3. The rotor can be made of non-core materials;

 

Due to the self-shielding effect of Halbach magnets, the unilateral magnetic field distribution no longer requires the rotor to adopt magnetic material as its path, which not only provides more material for the rotor selection, but also enables the system to have lower moment of inertia and faster adhesion.

 

4. High utilization rate of magnet;

 

Due to the partition of Halbach magnet, its ** magnet working point is higher, generally more than 0.9, thus improving the utilization rate of ** magnet.

 

5. Centralized winding system can be used;

 

Distributed windings are commonly used in traditional permanent magnet motors to reduce harmonic magneto-motive force. In Halbach motor, due to its high sinusoidal magnetic field distribution and low harmonic magnetic field influence, centralized winding can be used.

 

6. The use of Halbach motor magnet arrangement can reduce the torque ripple of the motor, so the need for motor bearings is greatly reduced.
